Description
If you are over 50 years old and you want to start learning yoga, this course may work well for you. Learn the basic postures at a pace that is right for you, with people in your own age group.
We begin with a proper standing technique in the mountain posture, and learn other postures with leg variations: legs spread apart, bending one leg, bending both legs, turning the trunk with legs apart, balancing on one leg. A chair is offered for assistance with balance if needed. We also do basic shoulder work and chest opening. This course teaches proper alignment of joints and muscles, how to gain strength, stamina, and mobility, and how to keep the mind quiet.
This is an 8-week course at the
beginner level. There are no make-ups offered or credits offered
for missed classes. Buy the entire series and save, or just one
class, according to your schedule. Students must be healthy, able
go up and down stairs, and get up and down from the floor
independently. If there is hearing impairment, please wear hearing
aid.
Class meets Saturdays, 8:45 to
10:00 am.
