Yoga for Addiction Recovery Series
4 weeks, Sundays 1:30pm-3:30pm starting January 26th and ending February 16th.
This series will explore the principles that support recovery: (1) acceptance, (2) surrender, (3) self-forgiveness, (4) honesty and positive self-talk, (5) open-mindedness and meditation, and (6) service to others. Each session will explore a principle and how it relates to recovery, followed by a yoga practice focused on that principle. The practice will include pranayama (yogic breathing technique), asana (physical yoga postures) and meditation. The practice will include tools that you can take with you off the mat to support your recovery.
This series is open to anyone recovering from any form of addiction (alcohol, drugs, food, gambling, relationships, co-dependency, etc.) and to those whom have been impacted by the addiction issues of someone in their life. It is also open to anyone with an open-mind, seeking to learn more about addiction recovery and to helping professionals (yoga teachers, social workers, nurses, addictions counselors, etc.).
This series is led by Katie D, whom has direct lived experience with addiction recovery, along with her work in the behavioral health field as a licensed master social worker for the past 8 years.
This series is not meant to be a replacement for addiction treatment, detox, rehab or mental health counseling. This series is meant to support recovery and provide additional tools to grow your recovery toolbox.
It is recommended that you bring a journal with you to the workshop.
$30 per session, or $100 if you opt to pay for the entire series in advance. Advanced registration is recommended.
