Looking for a compliment? Then bring in Yin!
Yin Yoga focuses on the deepest tissues of our body and their relationship to the bones along with the deep fascia networks of the body. Yin yoga is an enlightening complement to physical endeavors- weight-bearing modalities and more dynamic yoga styles, like vinyasa and power yoga. Great as a cross-training accompaniment.
Unlike most yoga styles, Yin allows the muscles to relax completely. Some poses can be held for up to several minutes while actually practicing meditation- can you imagine? Yin is not a “stretch”, there is no “goal” to reach- one just mindfully observes. It's the unraveling and the allowing of the body to be present with simply what is...Yin is the letting go of tendencies, fears, and habits of our muscularly wrapped body.
Yin Yoga helps back pain, lubricates knees and unravels a stiff neck. Above all, Yin melts the stressful and fast pace lifestyle that is saturated with of plenty of performance. The beauty of Yin yoga is that It is suitable for all people and all bodies, yin is even effective for stiff and less mobile body-types.
Yin Yoga was developed to penetrate deep into connective tissue-expanding flexibility while invigorating the nadis (or energy centers of the body) to release blockages and stagnation and increase and open up energy flow. This oh so sweet practice focuses on static movement, pranayama and mindfulness/meditation to create a profoundly deep and rewarding practice.
