Description
Always interested in starting a meditation practice, but never knew where to start? Have you tried to start a meditation practice, but just felt that you were missing that support and guidance from an expert?
Join Swati, one of Y@C front desk team members and experienced, longtime meditation practitioner and teacher, for this enlightening hour. This is a monthly offering with slightly varied focus for each session. No previous experience required. You may drop-in to any session.
Introduction to Technique: We’ll start off our session with a quick introductory check-in, and a conversation about mantras, and concentration-based meditation. I’ll touch on my experience with Transcendental Meditation, and the impact that this technique has had globally. We’ll give space for attendees to ask some questions, and share their intentions in this practice. We will discuss the meaning and significance of the mantra we’ll be meditating with tonight.
Pranayama: We’ll briefly recap our previous conversation about pranayama, and the relationship between yoga, meditation, and breathing. I will then quickly demonstrate anulom vilom again, and we’ll practice for a few minutes (3 minutes, 2 minute break, 3 more minutes).
Mantra Based Practice: For this session, we will pair our breathing with the internal recitation of a mantra, and gradually release into a silent meditation.
7:45 - 8:00pm: Check in and Intro
8:00 – 8:15pm: Pranayama
8:15 – 8:45pm: Quiet meditation
