Introduction to Pranayama and Meditation is sequence of 4 classes, where each class builds upon the previous one. It is for both beginners and those who have a meditation but not a pranayama practice. The classes are 60 minutes each at 11am on the following Wednesdays: October 14, 21 and 28 and November 4. The complete class sequence is priced at $65 with a discounted price of $45 for those who have an auto-pay monthly pass.
Pranayama is the discipline of yogic breathing to relax the body , soothe the mind and focus awareness. In traditional yoga, pranayama is essential preparation for meditation, which is the yogic method for replacing anxiety with serenity. Meditation gradually reduces the frequency of thoughts. This progressively leads to less inner disturbance, which in turn limits and then dissolves agitation and transmutes it to equanimity.
Each class is 10 to 15 minutes of theory and 45 to 50 minutes of guided practice.
