Level III Burlesque SUMMER Session

Mondays 8:45pm - 10pm

 

**Please note: This is a six week class. There will not be a class on August 3rd.**

 

This is an intermediate burlesque class that introduces musical theater dance styles from the 1940s on, and focuses on cabaret dance and burlesque movement within-group routines. We explore deeper character development and ensemble techniques, the study of ballet, jazz, and percussive techniques to prepare students for performance in musical theater.

Level 3 Burlesque is ideal for students from Levels 1 and 2 who show dance proficiency, or those who have already completed beginner courses with The Atlanta School of Burlesque.

 

 

Please be mindful of your ability to make it to all six (6) weeks of the class - your presence is necessary for the group formations. 

 

 

STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:

- Evaluate movement skills in terms of space, time, and force, and reproduce accurately through their own body.

- Analyze a dance performance in terms of choreography, performance, and theatrical elements.

- Demonstrate clarity of intent while being mindful of body alignment.

- Students will expand their dance vocabulary, be comfortable with transitions, and embody the spirit of the piece in new ways.

 

 

POLICIES

- Masks required in the studio.

- In-studio registrations are limited to five (5).

- Zoom links sent 30 minutes before class begins on the first day.

- This class requires a minimum student registration to make.

- Class cancellations occur no later than two hours prior to start time.

- Class schedules are subject to change at any time.

- No refunds; studio credit only.

- Instructors are subject to change.

- Must be 18 years or older.

- Please be advised there is the potential for adult themes.

- No nudity.

- Two studio cats live here. If you are allergic, please take any precautions before you attend classes.

CLASS CARDS

- It is the student's responsibility to monitor the expiration date.

- We do not extend the dates of any single class or class card.

- Class cards & credits can not be shared/transferred between students.

- You must notify us at least 3 hours before the start time if you will be absent. If you do not, the class will be considered “used” and deducted from your account - even in your absence.

 

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER

Metropolitan Studios/The Atlanta School of Burlesque will make every effort to contact students if classes are canceled due to inclement weather. Our primary way of communication is via email and then by phone. Please ensure your student profile has up to date contact information.
