BURLESQUE ACADEMY LEVEL 1
In-studio class size is limited to five (5) students. If you would prefer to take virtual classes, please email classes@metrostudioseav.com and you will be sent a zoom link to participate. If you sign up for the class, and the class is full, you will be invited to join virtually.

- Virtual students will be sent the Zoom link 30 minutes before class begins on the first day.
- This class *not* eligible for Groupon.
- This class requires a minimum student registration to make.
- Class cancellations occur no later than two hours before the start time.
- Class schedules are subject to change at any time.
- No refunds; studio credit only.
- Instructors are subject to change.

- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- No nudity.
- Two studio cats live here. They are not permitted to be in the dance space. If you are allergic, please take any precautions before you attend classes.
- It is the student's responsibility to monitor the expiration date.
- We do not extend the dates of any single class or class card.
- Class cards and credits can NOT be shared or transferred to another student.
- You must notify us at least 3 hours before the start time if you will be absent. If you do not, the class will be considered “used” and deducted from your account - even in your absence.
Metropolitan Studios/The Atlanta School of Burlesque will make every effort to contact students if classes are canceled due to inclement weather. Our primary way of communication is via email and then by phone. Please ensure your student profile has up to date contact information.
COURSE OBJECTIVE: To familiarize students with basic burlesque language and movement, basic jazz dance moves such as three-step turns, pivots, box steps, and stage walks. This course serves as an introduction to the movement skills used in jazz dance. It includes the use of dynamics in rhythm, sustained and percussive tension, and dramatic focus unique to jazz and burlesque.
DESCRIPTION: Chorus/Ensemble only dance series that focuses on basic burlesque movement within group dance routines. Each semester is broken down into 3 months, with 3 different choreographies being taught, one classic and two conceptual/modern. Each class will be taught on the same day every week for 12 weeks, minus holidays. All workshops will be the hour prior to dance class.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES: Evaluate movement skills in terms of space, time, and force and reproduce accurately through movement of their own body.
COURSE OUTCOMES: These classes will allow students to have a skill assessment, and those who meet performance criteria will be eligible to perform in CBR Underground or smaller studio shows.
