The ocean is like a real-life museum of the most extraordinary creatures. In this week-long art program, you will recreate the underwater world using scissors. You will start off by creating a background in full color. Then you will color papers for cut-outs; the special color-mixing instructions will help you produce complex and sophisticated colors. Then you will use your scissors to create the elaborate world of Poseidon, the Tzar of the Sea, with jellyfish, corals, crabs in seashells, seaweed, school of sparkling fish, monster-like beasts that glow in the dark, sunken ancient ships, and lost treasures. A slideshow will give you a glimpse into the enormous diversity of organisms that exists in our ocean. Up for the challenge? Put on your scuba gear and meet us on the dock.
In this mixed-media art project, you’ll create an underwater world by means of paint and collage. This project is perfect for those who are fascinated with the ocean and excited to recreate it in an artwork.
Throughout the week, the instructor will give participants tips on how to talk about their mixed-media art with an audience. On the last day of the week, on Friday evening, all the pieces created during the workshop will be displayed in the online exhibition with a wine-cocoa reception, and parents and friends are invited to view the work and enjoy critique and discussion.
