Description
This class is designed to provide expectant parents with the information needed to help prepare for successful nursing. Led by a Certified Lactation Counselor, this class addresses what happens after birth, proper latching and positioning, feeding patterns, common challenges, and the pumping and storage of breast milk. In addition, this class emphasizes learning to breastfeed by seeing how it works: we will look closely at videos and photographic books, and learn precise positioning using props. The combination of up-to-date information and visual aids will give expectant parents the skills and confidence to prepare for successful nursing.
Led by a Certified Lactation Counselor, this workshop covers the most important topics to learn prenatally about breastfeeding:
- How breastfeeding is taught in hospitals after birth, including practices that can help or hinder you
- Normal newborn feeding patterns
- Detailed instructions for how to latch without pain
- How to make plenty of milk, and how to know your baby is getting enough milk
- When to begin pumping and introducing bottles
- When and where to get help for problems that may arise
Cost: $85
