Description

Join us for a late Saturday afternoon of yoga and painting. Anabelle will lead us through a 45-minute yoga class, and then we’ll follow it up with a painting class with local Austin artist, Sonya Palumbo! For our April session, we will be painting flower pots.

What to wear: Yoga clothes but feel free to bring an apron or old shirt for the painting portion

What to expect: An incredible flow-style yoga class and peaceful, joyful art class. Soul Strong will provide all of the needed art supplies, including brushes, paint, and flower pots. We’ll even provide Kombucha and snacks to fuel your art!

The event will be held at Soul Strong Sanctuary, both indoors and outdoors. We’ll end by 5 or 5:30pm, just depending on how long you’d like to stay to finish up your art piece.

Price: $59 (15% off for members)

Anabelle Chozet

After hanging up her dancing shoes, Anabelle began casually practicing yoga in 2012 until she realized that yoga wasn’t just a hobby, it was actually a lifestyle. Five years later, she discovered “Buti Yoga,” which made her feel empowered. In 2017, she decided to further her own education with a Buti Yoga certification in her hometown of El Paso, TX, and has been teaching since. Her goal is to spread happiness and a sense of empowerment in her classes by showing students that they are beautiful, strong, and perfect just the way they are, because true beauty shines from within.

Sonya Palumbo

Sonya is a local Austin artist and yoga teacher. Check out her work at: www.sonyapalumbo.art

“I have to start by saying that I am someone who struggles with  anxiety. However, I learned that painting helps quiet my mind. My sense of calmness is then reflected in my paintings, so when I look at them I can recall that feeling.

I find being in nature to be healing which is why I’m drawn to painting bright colored flowers, water, and animals. I like to add geometric shapes to contrast the organic shapes of nature.

My use of gold and silver lines is inspired by Kintsugi, the Japanese art of mending broken pottery using lacquer mixed with gold or silver powder to piece the object back together. This symbolizes taking something broken and making it into something beautiful and strong.” - Sonya Palumbo
