Description
This retreat contains short lectures, reflective activities, and quiet time. Come to learn, reflect, and share in order to transform your life. Journey with three people who transformed their lives.
•Thomas Merton - Finding Faith (The twenty-seven years he spent in Gethsemani brought about profound changes in his self-understanding. This ongoing conversion impelled him into the political arena, where he became, according to Daniel Berrigan, the conscience of the peace movement of the 1960's)
•Dorothy Day - Finding Purpose (Her life followed an unorthodox path – moving from rejecting religion in favor of activism to embracing Catholicism and integrating it with social action through the Catholic Worker Movement)
•Henri Nouwen - finding self (Nouwen was interested in pastoral ministry, and he knew that the comparatively new discipline of psychology was important despite the fact that Church circles felt it undermined faith).
This time of reflection provides an opportunity to get to know yourself better. Create a timeline, design a tree of your life, remember your story.
Chairs, tables, do you have a CD player for music during reflection times?
participants should bring a notebook
Bridget McGill: “I am passionate about walking with people through the spiritual encounters of life, finding where the intersections and themes of God’s presence show up, and pushing through the obstacles toward greater freedom in spirit.
As an Irish immigrant who grew up in the Catholic tradition, I am grounded in and inspired by Celtic spirituality, contemporary and ancient mystics, and feminine spiritual leaders.
I am a certified Spiritual Director through the Chiara Center in Springfield, IL.”
