This three-hour intensive workshop is focused on perfecting lunges and squats. This workshop will explore and promote activation of the stabilizing and moving muscles necessary to excecute a proper lunge and/or squat. Lunges and Squats are essential to implementing functional movements required in our daily life. You may have issues with these exercises due to pre-existing joint issues. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the proper form required to execute these valuable exercises. We will start with very basic variations and modifications that can be done for a person at any level. We will then explore more challenging variations, which can be used to increase the connectivity into your core. We will explore how to load and off-load lunge and squat variations, which can be implemented at different weights and speed to increase the intensity and build on a challenge for cardio and strength.
We will explore how to execute without loading the joints and implementing with the correct muscles so the body can build positive movement patterns to retrain your joints to support these exercises and movement patterns. This allows us to correct form without increasing added inflammation or pain. To that end, we can return to function as Joseph Pilates intended. The muscles you need to recruit for a lunge or squat are are important because these muscles work to stabilize the pelvis and keep integrity of movement in the hip joint. When they're strong, your lower back doesn't bear the brunt of your motion. We will work to increase your strength and flexibility to positively affect the activation of these important core muscles that are often ignored. You will work hard developing and improving your core strength and exploring your physical and mental strength.
