Description
How the ancient concept of Yin/Yang can help create balance in our modern lives
Saturday 11th June 2022
11:00 – 13:00
In Ancient Chinese philosophy, yin and yang explores how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world, and how they may give rise to each other as they interrelate. This is also a core element of yoga which is based on the interplay of effort and ease; of finding the relaxed alertness of a yogi.
In this 2-hour workshop, we will explore the theme of yin and yang, dark and light, movement and stillness. We will try out some different practices that harness both types of energy and explore ways that we can integrate these approaches both on and off the mat. We will recognise different approaches to the concept of “balance” and explore lessons from the natural world, as well as Ancient Chinese and Indian practices that can help us create a greater sense of balance in our lives.
The retreat will include the following key elements:
Meditation and breathing techniques
Vinyasa Flow yoga to explore yang energy
Yin Yoga to relax, soften and release
Stories, poetry and group discussion and exploration
