1 weekDescription
This 4 week course is suitable for new students to yoga, and also for those with some experience, wanting to refresh themselves with the basics.
Over the course we will take time to examine up to 38 postures from a dynamic sequence, breaking them down step by step and in doing so learn how to self-adjust and work with our own unique body. This not only enhances the quality of practice, it insures a safe and lasting practice.
During a regular dynamic yoga class full of experienced
practitioners, the sequence of postures may move
too quickly for a beginner. These sessions will allow time to
adjust or correct students and to learn the principle of ‘bringing
the body to the posture.’
We will also examine the structure of a model skeleton enabling us
to clearly visualise some of the more complex body structures like
the vertebrae, wrists, shoulders, hips, knees and ankles. Through
this basic anatomical understanding we will learn why some people
find certain postures so easy and others almost impossible! Simple
adjustments are suggested following the same principles of
alignment which, once understood, can be applied as you develop
further with your practice.
There will be plenty of time to ask questions specific to your practice and to share your experience, challenges and goals within the posture.
Suitable for all students, beginners will learn correct alignment
from the start and more experienced students will understand and
accept the practice their body is capable of. Jozef's teaching
motto remains 'to practise in full awareness, maintaining
appropriate alignment in all postures where breath should be your
main guide.'
