How Music Works (Level
For People who Play
This class will be a continuation of the material from how music works. We will be diving into more intermediate/advanced music theory and ear training, as well as continuing to work on techniques and concepts to help you play and write music on a higher level. This class is for anyone who took how music works, or for those who have a strong grasp of basic music theory and knowledge of their main instruments.
This class is designed to deepen your understanding of music so that you can play WITH people better than ever. Each time we meet, you’ll come away with new tools, techniques, ideas, and a more solid understanding of how this music thing works. And that will help to build your confidence when it comes to making music with others.
This is a practical hands-on 8-week class designed to give you useful concepts, techniques, and DIGESTIBLE music theory. Instructor Nate Allen has spent a combined 20+ years in a music conservatory and performing all kinds of music in all kinds of ensemble situations. Each weekly lesson is designed so that students will leave with new tools and ideas to apply to their playing and songwriting immediately. All instruments and playing styles are welcome. This course is not for the complete beginner, students must have a basic grasp of how to play their instrument. If you consider yourself qualified to play in a BMF Rock Camp then you are qualified —and encouraged— to take this class.
