This Ashtanga Yoga workshop is a led vinyasa class for the experienced yogi interested in deepening their flow practice through a guided posture sequence known as the 'Primary Series'.
As this sequence can be challenging at times, all postures will be offered with potential modifications and all persons will be welcomed to come out of a pose early if they need to, or to rest in child's pose if they need to.
This beautiful practice begins with sun salutations and moves into a variety of standing poses before coming to the floor for a unique combinations of floor work. The sequence then finishes with a solid backbend practice and inversion exploration.
Be prepared to build heat, flow vigorously and to connect to your body in a new way through the foundational elements of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga: Dristi (an intentional gaze), Pranayama (deep and sound breathing) and Bandhas (strength based alignment). These elements help anchor your mind to your breath and your body as you practice and this transforms the posture science from its therapeutic benefits into a moving meditation.
