Have you ever wondered what yoga is really all about? It is well known that yoga is an ancient philosophy, dating back thousands of years. In the first thousand years or so of this path being forged, it was not usual to practice postures at all. Yogis mostly did meditation and performed austerities.
Yoga is the practice of self-knowledge, with the guiding principle of “ahimsa”, or non-harming. In this workshop, you will learn some of the weird and wonderful twists and turns that yoga has taken over the millenia, and how we ended up doing the body-based practice we do today. We will also discuss how we can incorporate the life-affirming principles of yoga philosophy into our yoga and into our daily life. There will be a mixture of discussion and practice, with a led yoga practice with Morven to explore how we can embody the yoga philosophy.
