Using a mix of clown pedagogy and techniques promoted by the best clowns and clown teachers in the world, we will explore Lecoq Theatrical Clown, Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Clown, European One Ring Cirque Clown, Russian Clown Theatre, and possibly Vaudeville and Burlesque baggy pants clown as well. Clown performance requires deep creativity, boldness, audience awareness, and so much more. Along with traditional acts, you will learn techniques that can bring more effective humor to your own unique work.

About Brian

Brian Foley has his BFA in Acting and Directing from New York University, and his MFA in Performance Directing from ASU. He was the Associate Artistic Director for the World Clown Festival in China for a decade. He has taught clown at NYU, at ASU, at CGCC, and at many many camps, theatre programs, and circus schools. He has taught the coaches at the Nanjing Acrobatic Troupe, and has had his clown pedagogy peer reviewed and published. As a ground acts coach, he has taught circus camps for 25 years, focusing on manipulation skills, ground equilibristics, and clown. Circus Camp Stars in Maryland considers him the best coach, and he appears on video learning tools for Cirque du Jour, and National Circus Project.
