These tests of athletic basics will give you a blueprint for training that produces results.
Open to the Public
10 Yard Dash: Tests an athletes ability to accelerate. When you think about “first step quickness” the 10 yard dash is a great place to start the assessment process. We look for an athlete’s body angle, thigh drive, stride length, and more in this drill.
Vertical Jump: Tests an athlete’s ability to jump and their vertical force production. We can often screen for potential knee and hip weaknesses in this drill.
5-10-5 Agility: Tests the athlete’s ability to change direction.. We not only look for their acceleration ability in this drill, but more importantly, their base of support, weight distribution, and reacceleration ability when changing direction.
Chin-up: Tests overall upper body strength. The muscles responsible for proper arm action when running are the same muscles used during a chin-up.
20 Yard Dash: Tests the acceleration phase and the transition into top speed.
