Yoga is a spiritual discipline, not a religion. Yoga can be practiced alongside ANY religion, or without any religion at all! Paisley Parvati Devi & Mianna Morrison invite you to join them for a quarterly exploration of the 4 primary philosophies of Yoga, and how they can be practically applied to our lives in a unique way!
Throughout the year, each workshop will be dedicated to exploring one of the following: Bhakti Yoga (devotion), Jñana Yoga (study), Raja Yoga (practice), and Karma Yoga (service).
This October, we will explore Raja
Yoga, a multi-disciplinary path. “Raja” means king, and Raja Yoga
is sometimes called the royal path or the yoga of independence. The
traditional “8-limbed (ashtanga)” path of Raja Yoga is outlined by
the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The Yamas & Niyamas describe
philosophical practices, while asana (postures) & pranayama
(breathing) are physical practices, and the remaining four limbs
explain the process of meditation practice. Raja Yoga refines the
external bodies in order to support larger internal and energetic
shifts. Yama:
Tapas - self discipline/
austerity We will explore how this aspect of yoga philosophy
can help us uncover & heal hidden aspects of ourselves.
This offering is donation-based with 15% of proceeds going to
support a local charitable organization.
Please bring your favorite comfy cushions & blankets to sit on,
a journal and pens, and tea if you'd like.
We will be at The Yoga Place on Wise Ave from 10 - 11:30am on
October 15th, 2023!
