This six-week introduction to Iyengar yoga is suitable for complete beginners, those new to Iyengar yoga and anyone wishing to brush up on their yoga basics.
Everyone is welcome, whatever your age and no matter how flexible you are.
What to expect?
Jane will gradually introduce you to a range of basic yoga poses and techniques to build strength and improve your flexibility.
You will also learn how to use simple equipment like blankets and belts, to deepen your awareness and work safely to your best ability.
Each class will end with a guided relaxation so you can leave feeling re-energised, relaxed and ready to face the world again.
What is Iyengar yoga?
Iyengar yoga is a traditional style of yoga with a focus on precision and alignment. We tend to hold poses a little longer than in a ‘flow’ class.
Classes can be quite physically demanding, but the rewards are huge, and there are always options for adapting your practice. Jane will be happy to offer alternatives and suggestions if needs be. Please just ask!
Please note this course is held at our new Mill Road centre on Gwydir Street.
Please bring your own yoga equipment if possible. It will be useful to have: a large towel or blanket to sit on, yoga brick(s) if you have them, and a belt - a normal belt, or some kind of cloth (e.g. scarf or tea towel) is good if you don’t have a yoga belt. Please note yoga props are available to purchase at Satyam.
