Who is this course for?
- Individuals new to yoga
- Anyone needing to re-visit basic yoga principles
- A good general level of physical fitness is a basic requirement.
If you have never tried yoga before this course is perfect for you. It is designed to meet the needs of those new to yoga, as well as those seeking to revisit their understanding of basic yoga poses and breathing techniques.
Students will be introduced to yoga postures (asanas) through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. Emphasis is placed on student understanding, safety, and stability within each pose.
We will learn sun salutations (Surya Namaskara) and explore the foundations and correct alignment of static postures, including seated, standing and supine.
Each class will start with a breathing exercise and end with a guided relaxation and/or meditation practice in Savasana.
The beginner course will also introduce a basic history of the origins of yoga, including Sanskrit terminology.

There is also on-street parking available in various local roads, including near St. Mary’s Church.
Our nearest bus stop is St. Mary’s Church in Shalford, which is 50 metres from the Studio.
Shalford Train Station is a 10 minute walk from the studio.
We have a secure bike rack that you are welcome to use and chain your bike to.
