3 Day Workshop
July 25th, 26th & 27th
My name is Kim Hogan and I’ve been teaching kindergarten for 16
years and teaching mindfulness and yoga classes for grades K-5 for
10 years. I’m certified to teach children’s yoga and adult yoga.
I’m passionate about incorporating many of the tools I’ve learned
through my yoga teacher training and research into my daily
classroom routines. I’ve noticed huge changes in myself and my
students. Each day we practice breathing strategies, affirmations,
and yoga in order to help prepare the students to deal with their
emotions. We talk about our feelings and discuss strategies we can
use to handle different emotions. I’ve created all sorts of visuals
for the students, weekly breathing strategies and affirmations, and
a specific
time in our day for yoga. We also have a calm corner where students
can go if they need time to take a moment away from the class to
regroup, name their feeling, and choose a way to calm down in order
to return to the group. I believe in the need for educators to
place importance on the social and emotional needs of their
students. I want to share my strategies with other
educators or parents who are looking for tools to help make their
classroom or home become a more peaceful place. The workshop will
focus on learning ways to teach children breathing strategies,
affirmations, gratitude, yoga, and mindfulness.
