A Pelvic Floor Initial Assessment starts with a Q & A session.  I will want to get a good history and understand your concerns and goals for therapy.  

I will look at posture, mobility and strength of your back, hips and legs.  I will assess your breathing, balance, movement patterns and watch you perform things like:  bending, twisting, squatting, deadlifting.  (or whatever your challenge may be)

After an external physical assessment, an internal examination may be appropriate.  This is only performed within a patient’s comfort level and can help both a patient and myself figure out how the pelvic floor is contracting and relaxing. Then, a plan is made and you are guided through treatments designed to improve your pelvic floor issues.  

Just like physical therapy in all other areas-we will address your weakness, tightness, pain, muscle imbalances and incoordination through hands on techniques and exercise.  Don’t be afraid to take the next step in getting rid of pain and not peeing your pants—you can do this!
