The introductory series is designed specifically for the student new to yoga or new to the Iyengar Method of Yoga. The Iyengar method emphasizes alignment in the poses and will sometimes use props to help increase the range of motion. These classes introduce poses and the basic principals of alignment. Students of all abilities can perform the intro poses “asanas” with the use props specific to Iyengar Yoga such as blocks, belts and blankets. These poses will help you develop strength, flexibility, balance, and stamina while cultivating discipline, courage and sensitivity in mind, body and spirit. At the completion of the series, students will possess the basic knowledge required to progress to the next level of classes.
Please arrive 15 minutes before class time for your first class so you may get acquainted with the instructor. There is no particular start date for the introductory series – you may join any time. Please wear shorts and t-shirt or tank top. Mats and props are provided at the studio.
