This training is Atlanta’s original Yin Yoga teacher training. Douglas has been doing this training since 2013 and has trained most of Atlanta’s most successful Yin teachers. If you have done a Yin Yoga class in or around the Atlanta area, chances are you have taken it with a graduate of this program. Douglas Johnson trained for five years directly with Paul Grilley, the man who published the first book and DVD on Yin Yoga.

This training will be open to both yoga teachers and serious yoga practitioners who would like to deepen their practice & understanding of Yin Yoga and will count for at least 20 continuing education contact hours with Yoga Alliance. In this training we will cover:

What Yin yoga is and how it differs from other styles of yoga

Specific physical benefits of the Yin approach;

What the basic Yin yoga asanas are;

Posture modifications and variations;

‘Yang’ yoga counter-poses;

Effective approaches to teaching a Yin yoga class;

Teaching Yin yoga as a ‘spiritual’ practice;

And much more.

A WORD FROM DOUGLAS

I often see and hear Yin yoga being confused with other ‘relaxed’ styles of yoga like Restorative or Gentle yoga, by yoga students and teachers alike. While these are lovely styles of asana practice with many benefits of their own, they do not offer the specific benefits that a proper ‘Yin’ approach to asana practice does. I created this training to help clear up any confusion so you will have a clear understanding of how to do Yin Yoga yourself or teach Yin Yoga to others safely and effectively.
