Having joy in functional aging
The benefits of yoga in golden years are much the same as those for the general population:
- Physically, yoga can increase flexibility, mobility, strength, and balance through low-impact movement.
- Psychologically, it can help keep your mind sharp and increase positive emotions, mindfulness, and awareness of Self.
Yoga is adaptable to different populations with diverse physical abilities and needs.
In this workshop, we’ll learn more about our bodies and how through the yoga practice we can improve our being holistically and attain a state of Joy.
Session 1 – Body awareness – interoception
Session 2 – Balance and stability - Endurance X Muscle Strength and why we need both
Session 3 – Flexibility and Joint Health – Keeping knee and hip safe and functional
Session 4 – Osteoporosis Prevention – improving bone quality as well as density
Session 5 – Pranayama and high blood pressure prevention
Session 6 – Self-awareness – introduction to meditation
