Prerequisite: We suggest basic soldering and fabrication skills
Inlay is a decorative jewelry technique that consists of inserting pieces of contrasting colored stones and other materials into depressions in metal or wood to form patterns or pictures that are flush with the surface.
In this course, students will fabricate a ring in sterling silver, and prepare it for inlay by creating channels and grooves for the stones. Choose from a selection of rough cut lapis, turquoise, bloodstone and onyx to cut, grind and shape to fit perfectly into the recesses of the piece.
This is a beautiful way to accent a piece or elevate a collection. Add color and create patterns with this ancient lapidary technique.
All tools, stones and metal will be provided.
