At Movement, Mindfulness and Me we specialize in yoga for the entire family. Whether you are a middle school, high school or collegiate athlete, a weekend warrior or a comitted lifelong athlete yoga can benefit you!

Balance, functional strength, flexibility, mental acuity and tolerance, improved focus, better sleep (processes lactic acid) and improved breath use are some of the areas of focus!

If you are looking to build strength and flexibility and want to leave feeling like you've had a bit of a workout - try this class. You will be led through various poses encouraging you to safely push your boundaries and encouraging you to recognize your "edge"- AKA where to back off. This can be a tough lesson for athletes who are used to pushing themselves beyond their limits. This class will encourage you to push yourself without aggression or the need for perfection. You will be encouraged to try new poses that will take you out of your comfort zone and try what challenges you. Yoga will teach athletes a balance between push and pull, between going to your edge and recognizing when to balance that drive with some well deserved ease within a posture.

Great athletes that you may know who practice yoga include: Aaron Rodgers, The Seattle Seahawks team, Evan Longoria, Mara Abbott (olympic cyclist) , New York Giants and Yankees, US Women's National Soccer Team, Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson (golfers), Chris Bocklet (Lacrosse), Ted Ligety (snowboarder), Julia Mancuso (Olympic skier) former New Orleans Saints Keith Mitchell is now a yoga instructor as well!

Other classes we offer that may benefit athletes include YIN yoga which allows the body to stretch targeting the ligaments, joints and fascia. It promotes comfort in discomfort as you breathe and allow the body to relax into each pose. You are supported by props and are encouraged to find peace in not moving - also a challening task to many hard core intense athletes!
