BURLESQUE ACADEMY LEVEL 2/3
COURSE OBJECTIVES: This course introduces musical theatre dance styles from the 1940s to the present. It includes the study of ballet, jazz and tap techniques to prepare students for performance in musical theatre. Intermediate turns will be taught. This class is ideal for those in Levels 1 or 2 from the Fall Semester who are able to transition into higher levels after showing great dance proficiency in the previous semester or those who have already completed begginer courses with The Atlanta School of Burlesque.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. Evaluate movement skills in terms of space, time, and force, and reproduce accurately through their own body.
2. Analyze a dance performance in terms of choreography, performance, and theatrical elements.
3. Demonstrate clarity of intent while applying kinesthetic principles for all dance elements.
DESCRIPTION: Chorus/Ensemble only series focuses on intermediate level cabaret dance and burlesque movement within group dance routines. Each semester is broken down into 3 months, with 2 different choreographies being taught, one chair number, and one conceptual/modern/jazz. Each class will be taught on the same day every week for 12 weeks, minus holidays. All workshops will be held on Sundays.
COURSE OUTCOMES: These classes will allow students to have a
skill assessment, and those who meet performance criteria will be
eligible to perform in CBR Main Stage or DebuTease Shows with an
instructor.
Students may take up to (6) of the below workshops at no additional cost. Any additional workshops taken past (6) are $40 each.
