The moon salutation sequence, or Chandra Namaskar is intended
to recognize and honour the lunar or cooling side of our being, and
we practice these movements to help balance our yin and yang, our
solar and lunar, and our masculine and feminine qualities. Unlike
the traditional Surya Namaskar, or sun salutation sequence which
builds heat in the body, the moon salutation is cooling and
nourishing, and replenishes our vital energy. In this fast paced
world we are conditioned to crave heat, intensity, strength, and
sweat. It is easy to neglect our softer side that asks us to relax,
nurture, press pause and go inwards. This class offers just that.
