This workshop, taught by Jennifer Barron Fishman, ICCE and Lactation Educator, is designed to introduce expecting parents to the wonderful yet often confusing and possibly challenging world of breastfeeding a newborn. Evidence based information will be shared about the benefits of nursing and examples of real life situations will be explored. Partners are strongly encouraged to join this workshop. Some of the class discussion will include: what influences a mother’s/couple’s decision to breastfeed; the benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby; what’s important in the first days of breastfeeding; positioning and what to do when problems arise; information on additional resources; returning to work and pumping.
