Description:
In most anatomy courses for Yoga teachers we focus on the alignment of the bones, the reach of the ligaments or tendons and the performance of the muscles. This training will increase your understanding of anatomy by learning about the connections of all the different tissue types in the body. In this course, we will focus specifically on 12 chains of myofascial tension in the body that will allow us to look at structural patterning in our students in a more holistic way. This approach encourages you to include the overall facial tone of the body in your sequencing strategies and application. The course is beneficial for Yoga teachers and other movement teachers such as dance teachers and athletic trainers.
Curriculum:
• This course is a combination of theory and practicum
• This training is a study in Myofascial Anatomy that views the
body as a whole instead of parts
• We will study 12 myofascial lines or lines of pull in the body
and relate those lines of pull to different Yoga poses and body
movement
• There will be two, 2- hour yoga practices where we apply the
concept of myofascial continuity in body movement
• Following the theory and practicum on the myofascial lines,
students will be taught how to perform a global postural
assessment
• Students will work with their peers to identify structural
patterns in the body
• There will be interactive elements to help you grow in your
understanding of Myofascial Anatomy
• Participants will be given 6 body reading assignments as part of
their practicum
Learning Outcomes
• You will learn an integrative way of working with the muscles,
ligaments and bones instead of viewing them as separate parts
• You will think differently and more intelligently about your yoga
sequences with a better understanding of how the body is
connected
• Teachers working in private sessions will learn how to identify
postural patterns in their students and help them with a strategy
to grow out of the pattern
• You will learn to really look at your students and use your
vision as a way of feeling into old injuries in their frame, any
hitches in their gait, and even subtleties in their psychological
approach to life
