This is a 75-minute group row led by senior rowers. This group meets ON THE WATER at 7:00 am outside the Schoonmaker Marina (Open Water boathouse). Leaders open the boathouse at 6:45 am and we work together to launch boats. Rows are a combination of open water exploration, skill-building, and workouts/fitness training. We are not coaches, but will mentor other rowers and share any insights and observations than may help your rowing practice, and we encourage other experienced rowers to do the same.

You must register in advance for this group and reserve boats, either through staff or the app. There will be no office staff to do this in the morning AND we will use the reservation roster in advance to plan our rows. In the event that weather precludes a row, we WILL NOT cancel, but will provide a structured program on the ergs with some mobility exercises to help your rowing! The group may break into two led groups based on how the skill and fitness levels of attendees.

Group rows may include training exercises, time trials, rough-water skill building, marine mammal sightseeing, competitive pieces and general endurance training.

Absent unforeseen complications, rowers should be back at the dock by 8:15 am.

The group will meet and row regardless of weather or conditions. In the event conditions are not appropriate for rowing, we will have fun rowing indoors together!

PREREQUISITES: 1) you must have a boat, and to rent one from OWRC, you must meet their sign-off requirements (we can not do this the morning of the row); 2) your boat must meet safety requirements--a self-bailer or open transom and a PFD.

This group row is FREE, but your participation and contribution to the group experience is invaluable!
