Mary has been practicing hot yoga for 35 years. She has a wealth of knowledge and is not to be missed! She has served as a mentor to countless teachers over the years and has coached many yoga champions. She is twice named “Who’s Who in Bikram Yoga” by Yoga Journal Magazine as one of the top three Bikram teachers in the world! She is the leading expert on the use of yoga therapy for injury and healing. You will gain a refreshing perspective on this yoga practice – and you will shape shift!
Mary's bikram yoga class usually lasts two hours or a bit more because she spends extra time sharing valuable insights or connecting personally with students. Her class is truly special and her knowledge comes from 35 years of teaching and practicing this yoga. If you have to leave early for any of her classes, that's ok! Just do so quietly and keep time for yourself if possible.
One of the reasons Mary is such a special human being and teacher is because she is living proof that a consistent hatha yoga practice with intention carries remarkable healing powers. Mary suffered serious neck and other spinal injuries in a car accident. She brought herself out of pain by practicing bikram yoga twice daily for 2 years and adding what we now call her “Shapeshifting” homework.
What is Shapeshifting?
These are energy-shifting and healing exercises that Mary created to bring herself out of pain. By accident, they happened to be wonderful for yoga conditioning and can be done anywhere by anyone!
Mary often says, “All you need to do yoga is a spine!”
We always have the BEST TIME. We just laugh all day and do yoga all day and life is just so good in the hot room together. Mary often tells stories and we also begin our great work of being more kind, more compassionate, more loving, while our spines are changing.
