Long Slow Deep, or LSD yoga as commonly referred to by its founder Bryan Kest, originated as a complimentary series to Power Yoga. LSD grew out of Bryan’s self practice at a time in his life that he was not able to practice his general Power Yoga sequence due to an injury. This practice is delivered over a longer period of time with a focus on being patient and keeping our breath fluid. In this practice, you experience the benefits of holding poses a little longer giving hamstrings, groin, hips, shoulders, etc. more time to release deeper. Long Slow Deep sequence focuses on floor postures that create space and length in the spine and take us into a blissful state. It compliments our busy life style and settles our mind and body. This practice is powerful and for any level of student, it is not a restorative class. We still use the body and effort of the body to create the pose and reap the benefits of the pose. LSD is a great class for those who have injuries that prevent them from participating in a faster style yoga practice.
