Learn the foundations required to take flight in your asana! Amanda will be covering basic principles of how to ground yourself through your hands instead of your feet to support yourself in different arm balances and inversions. Learn what it feels like to be close to the ground, using the strength of your shoulders and core to find lightness in your body. Amanda will talk you through a bit of anatomy and biomechanics in the context of specific poses, warm you up with a short practice and drills, and then go through a series of arm balances and inversions. The poses you can expect to see in this workshop include plank (and variations), chaturanga, crow pose, tolasana, headstand, and handstand. Transitions in and out of the poses will also be discussed in the context of safety and flowing in the practice. Participants are expected to have a consistent yoga practice, but not necessarily arm balances and inversions in their regular practice.
