Yin yoga is a quiet, meditative practice of floor postures that are held for three to five minutes. It is a simple practice but not always easy as you release muscular effort to sink into shapes which traction the body and lengthen fascia. Yin yoga can help to calm and quiet the mind, reduce stress and anxiety, enhance mobility and flexibility, build inner energetic reserves and dissipate energetic blockages by stimulating the flow of chi or prana. Patience is required but no prior yoga experience is required.
