Yin Yoga is the relaxed practice of floor postures. Using slow, deep stretches, Yin Yoga opens and stimulates core connective tissue, increasing fluidity, calming the mind and encouraging a sense of joy and well being. It is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga that emphasize the lengthening and contracting of our muscles. Yin Yoga generally targets the connective tissues of the hips, pelvis, and lower spine.
