Offered in the Mason Sanctuary, Hatha Yoga is a mixed level class with the focus on strength building and finding balance in the mind. Hatha Yoga allows more time transitioning into poses and the poses are help for a longer period of time.
The words of Mark Whitwell, sum up the intention of your practice:
Asana is hatha yoga, the non dual tantra of direct intimacy with Reality itself, which is only a nurturing force always pressed up on you, in you as you. Yoga is not some technique to do in your room to make yourself feel better. It is not manipulation of body or energy for some future improvement. It is direct embrace of the eternal wonder presently arising as pure intelligence and utter beauty. “Yoga is the practice of participating in the opposites internally and externally. The inhalation is the feminine receptive quality, and the exhalation is the masculine strength. This is hatha yoga, strength-receiving. … Yoga is making love to life. The body loves its breath, and the exhalation loves the inhalation, and feeling this love tangibly allows us to love one another. When we feel loved, we inevitably give love to those around us. When we become intimately connected to each other from this place of mutual strength and receptivity, we are strong and present to each other as we receive each other. It is an endless eternal exchange."
