Do you have trouble quieting your mind? Is it difficult for you to relax, even when you try? Has “traditional” meditation not worked for you in the past?
Join Tom Capshew as he creates a physical and energetic space for you to get out of your mind! No substances needed, just the technology already in your being and the conditions around you to step out of “monkey mind” – a term Buddhists use for the constant analysis and processing of your brain. Ekstasis – to stand outside. Ekstasis meditation uses ancient techniques practiced by shamans to gently lull your body and mind to a still point while freeing your consciousness to explore the unseen world. The world Tom calls “the sea of possibilities.”
Participants start in savasana, laying face up on the floor, with or without an eye covering. Tom creates the space with a warm studio and brainwave infused music. His soothing voice gently guides participants into entrainment with theta brainwaves, a state of deep relaxation just above a sleep state. In theta brainwave state, our mind shuts down from processing external data and our consciousness can come to the forefront of our awareness. As the guided meditation ends and the music is turned up, participants travel into their own experience, directly experiencing consciousness as they stand outside their mind. At the end of the class, Tom gently guides participants back into their bodies and minds to re-engage the physical world, refreshed and renewed after the break from everyday processing.
