HOW TO ACTUALLY RECORD A SONG
at home, simply and well, so you’ll be happy with it
This page is for the Kids (Middle Schoolers) section
*There are two
sections: 1) Adults 2) Kids. Please make sure you sign up for
the right one.
Whatever your basic recording setup is in your home computer, there
are smart, efficient ways to make recordings of yourself. And
you don't have to pull your hair out in the
process. This time we are living in is a fine
opportunity to sit back, take a breath, and learn the skills you
actually need to make a home recording. In this class, you can focus
on a song you have written, or pick somebody else’s song to
cover.
In this class you’ll learn the necessary steps you’ll want to take
to record —and align— your parts; whether you’re looking to make an
acoustic guitar/vocal recording or if you’d like to be able to
combine drum loops, bass parts, keyboard parts, guitar parts,
vocals, solos, etc. This is the streamlined (and
comprehensible) class for you.
Additionally, we’ll get into the benefits of recording software as a practice tool — being able to quickly put together an version of a song that you are learning so that you can practice with a “music minus one” type recording that has your part removed.
Any recording software is fine for this class, but we’d
encourage you to download the free 3-month trial of Logic, just so
the whole class is working in the same software.
