The relationship between a healing arts professional and client is
an intimate one. It is part of the healing nature of the
therapeutic relationship. We are responsible to clients and to
ourselves to behave in an ethical manner and to maintain a high
degree of personal integrity.
The topics covered will be contracts, appropriate use of
power and influence, scope of practice, confidentiality and
sexuality. We will explore such guidelines as staying centered so
we can connect more fully, conducting ourselves in a manner that
reflects respect, showing humility and admitting limitations – know
when to refer, awareness of what we say and how we say it, being
generous with time and energy, but knowing how to set boundaries,
motivating and inspiring clients to follow through and become
responsible
for themselves, and acknowledging client’s rights.
