Depressive symptoms can range from feeling “down” to overwhelming feelings of heaviness. It can be helpful to understand physical and psychological reactions to being overwhelmed. Yoga has many tools to cultivate emotional health. This 5-hour workshop will include information on the body’s reaction to depression, yoga’s traditional energetic perspective on depression, and practical activities to help build resilience. The class will include discussion of yoga’s teachings on states of mind (vyasa), models of energy (gunas, brahmana, langhana), and tools to manage symptoms of depression. This workshop is designed for anyone who is interested in learning tools to build emotional health. Class will include some lecture, discussion, and guided practice (including movement, breathing, and meditation). Yoga Alliance CEUs will be available for participation in this training
This class will be led by Dr. Kim Allen, a certified 500-hour teacher and 500-hour yoga therapist through the American Viniyoga Institute.
