Tap dance originated in the United States in the early 19th century from the fusion of percussive dances from different cultures, particularly from African tribal dances and Scottish, Irish and English clog dancing. The influences from these different dance styles evolved to what we know today as tap dancing. Throughout the history of Tap dance, a lot of racism and segregation has occurred. There’s an ongoing fight for equality and proper representation in this industry.

Level 3 is for Tap students who are looking to transition into drop-in styled classes. Students will be challenged to be more independent learners by implementing tools for better retention of choreography. They will continue to expand their knowledge of fundamentals and exercise their dexterity. In addition, dancers will be encouraged to express their creativity and explore musicianship. By the end of this course, students will have learnt two Tap dance combinations!
