Class Level: Gentle to Moderate (suitable for most)
One week will be Neck/Shoulder/Upper Back, the next week will be Happy Hips. Class descriptions below.
NECK/SHOULDERS/UPPER
BACK
We spend a lot of time hunched over our phones, tablets and
computers (or in any number of other activities) that cause us to
round the shoulders and put our neck and head in a forward and
downward position. This changes the curvature of the neck and
spine, causes overstretching and weakening of the muscles around
the shoulder blades, and shortens the muscles in chest area,
creating poor posture and tightness and tension in the back, neck
and shoulders.
This gentle to moderate class will focus on alignment and functional movement patterns incorporating a combination of stretching and strengthening to rebalance postural muscles, increase flexibility and open up tight spaces in the shoulders, neck, and upper back.
HAPPY
HIPS
Healthy
range of motion and muscle development in the hips is essential for
a happy back and body. Postural alignment in everyday functional
movement is often connected to tightness and/or weakness in the
hips, torso, and upper legs. Creating adequate strength and
mobility in these places (with the hips being the center of it all)
can help create better mobility and alignment throughout the body,
ease back pain, relieve stress in the legs and feet, and release
stuck energy and emotions.
