The pandemic has put breathing exercises old and new into the spotlight, and growing research supports the understanding that how we breathe is one of the most powerful tools we have to balance and regulate our nervous system. Many of us leave pranayama out of our yoga instruction and only generally allude to the breath during asana practice. We talk about diaphragmatic and nose breathing, but do we actually know how to teach it or why it’s so important? We talk about breathing deeply, but when can deeply be dangerous? This workshop offers fresh insight into the anatomy of breathing and provides crucial tools to help you incorporate more breathwork into your teaching practice. Increase your understanding of various pranayama techniques from both the ayurvedic and scientific perspective. Discover the “golden key” to unlocking the diaphragm. Learn how to safely coach people in finding greater resilience and well-being through their breath and give them powerful tools to improve their quality of life, whether they are already healthy or have compromised health. And be prepared to have your life transformed just as much as your students.
