This workshop, taught by Jennifer Barron Fishman, ICCE and Lactation Educator, is part of the 4 Week Group Childbirth Education Series, but can be taken “A La Carte”. This class is designed to introduce expecting parents to the wonderful yet often confusing and possibly challenging world of breastfeeding a newborn. Evidence based information will be shared about the benefits of nursing and examples of real life situations will be explored. Partners are strongly encouraged to join this workshop. This course is ideal for women starting their 3rd trimester. Some of the class discussion will include: Reasons that a mother’s/couple’s decide to breastfeed; The benefits of breastfeeding for mother and baby; Vital information for success within the first days of breastfeeding; Positioning and what to do if or when problems arise; You will also receive additional resources and information about local support providers and classes on returning to work and pumping.
