Pranayama is the yoga practice of breath control. This 10-hour workshop will include description and practice of pranayama techniques, information on how pranayama affects physiology, and potential energetic effects (panchamaya model, chakras, nadis, gunas) of pranayama practices. This class will include lecture, group work, and guided practice. Additional resources will be provided to participants. Participants are encouraged to bring note-taking materials, a practice mat, and wear comfortable clothing for movement. Yoga Alliance CEUs are available for participation in this training. This workshop is open to anyone who is interested in developing their breath capacity or teaching breath techniques.
This class will be led by Dr. Kim Allen, a certified 500-hour teacher and 500-hour yoga therapist through the American Viniyoga Institute. Kim has her doctorate in Health Education and has been teaching yoga since 1996 to a wide range of specialty populations.
