What is Kundalini yoga?
Kundalini yoga is known as the Yoga of Awareness which is designed to awaken the latent spiritual energy within each of us. In Sanskrit, Kundalini means coiled snake and refers to the energy found at the base of the spine. In Kundalini we combine physical asanas called kriyas, chanting of mantras, breath work or pranayama, and meditation to awaken the sleeping energy coiled at the base of the spine and help it to travel upward through each of the energy centers known as chakras. When the energy reaches the crown of the head, enlightened awareness occurs.
This 8 week class series is designed to introduce you to the practice of Kundalini, with each week focusing on a specific chakra or energy center within the body, to help you develop spiritual consciousness. Please refrain from eating less than one hour prior to class. Head coverings such as scarf, headband, bandana, etc. are suggested but not required. You can come to all, or some, of the classes!
